Hero’s Journey Step #9: The Reward
“When we celebrate a milestone, we are reminded to give thanks for all the rest of our everyday moments, too”
Wahoo! After eight steps on the Hero’s journey over an equal amount of months in our blog, a big celebration is in order. OK, a HUGE one! With the help of the Mentor, Allies, big realizations and even enemies along the journey, our Hero has moved through the Ordeal and come out the other side with a breakthrough that will transform him/her permanently. It’s a time of triumph and a deep deep breath. Let’s take one now.
Now, let me invite you to take a moment and focus on the last time you experienced a powerful breakthrough…a realization that shifted the ground underneath your feet and opened the door for a new reality. Can you think of one? Are you in one now? Normally an experience of renewed power & freedom, it’s usually preceded by something very uncomfortable, some kind of internal struggle while we work our way through the old reality. The reality that doesn’t fit anymore.
Here are a couple of things to remember in the loop of Ordeal and Reward:
- It’s a necessary process of and for your continued expansion, evolution. You don’t come to more freedom and peace without dropping all that conditioned you to stay constricted. And those chains have to be broken to get free.
- You will repeat this loop numerous times in your life and, well, that’s a good thing, even though it can feel hard and frustrating.
- The more committed you are to using the events and relationships in your life as a invitation to go to the next level of growth, the more you accept and even become grateful for the loop. When you get uncomfortable, you stop fighting it and realize that it’s what comes before a breakthrough.
- Make sure to truly celebrate, totally drink in the new reality. The more you acknowledge and integrate the new, the easier it is for the “old” to move completely out
This last weekend, I was blessed to work with the newest, courageous Heroes that show up for A Radical Shift. In the two days we spent together, there was a clear showing of all the steps of the journey and their commitment to take it on. As always, I thank them for giving me another chance to live my purpose. And, here’s welcoming them to the community!
